Things are buzzing at Train Mountain Railroad

Things are buzzing at Train Mountain Railroad as we prepare for the 2025 Triennial Event. The work week starts on Saturday, June 14 as hundreds of registered participants arrive.
On June 21, the event really takes off as over 300 ride-on trains start running day and night. Food and train vendors will be on hand and we’ll have seminars and tours running. Visitor passes available for anyone in the area that wants to join the fun.

April Fools

Thought we were done with snow? April Fools. The ground was white this morning. Klamath Falls got 2″ with continued snowfall through the morning.

New Siding at Midway Circle

Dale has installed a new siding on the south-west side of Midway Circle.  This allows visitors to walk over to Lillyville without their train having to take the Rio Grande loop.  This siding will also be used for Triennial shuttle train loading as this location is shady and more centrally located to the check-in activities.  The below photo is looking the west – Lillyville is visible in the distance and the pavillion is visible to the left.  In the foreground is the remains of the track old track alignment.

Blue Mountain Coal Trackwork

Dale has finished reinstalling the tracks under Blue Mountain Coal.  The roof on the west side of the structure has not yet been completed.

Triennial Update

Due to train parking constraints, we’ve now placed limitations on registering trains for the Triennial.  Registrations for two trains or trains over 50 feet in total length will not be accepted.  There are not too many parking spaces left so hurry if you still intend to register.

Kitsap Week

Come join the annual Kitsap Week, April 5-12.  This is a week sponsored by The Kitsap 7.5″ Club, of Washington, where we get a jump start on spring clean-up projects before the Spring Awakening Meet.  Surely there will be much to be done after February’s heavy snow.  Hopefully the snow will be gone (but no guarantees as it was snowing just an hour before this was typed)

Tree Trimming

The trees in the porch at Central Station were pruned following damage from the snow storms.  If you were hoping to see their spring blossoms, you’ll have to wait until they regrow their foliage.

Record Snowfall

February saw record snow fall in early February.  It snowed for almost a week straight – schools were closed for five consecutive days.
